ILLUSTRATIONS ~ for greater diversity

We now have these new illustrations for people who would like the Picture Cards and Pairs Game to reflect the ethnic diversity in their school.

They come in the form of labels that can be stuck on top of the existing cards, namely -

A sheet of labels will be sent free of charge to SoundWorks users. If you would like a set, please email us your address, quoting the User Number on the inside cover of your Handbook. For people without a User Number, a charge of £2.50 is made to cover costs. F

JOINED HANDWRITING - some ideas on how to begin

Schools vary in their approach to joined handwriting and so the policy in SoundWorks is to let the class teacher decide when and how children should start to join their letters. This is still the policy. However, some suggestions are provided here in case they are useful. New letter-joins will be added from time to time, so if you use them, it's worth checking the site every now and again. If there is a letter-join you would particularly like, or if the joining stroke is not what you teach, please let us know and we will try to provide what you need. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS in the SoundWorks case

It is sometimes useful to have extra packs of certain items in the SoundWorks case for children to use in the classroom or take home to practise. The following are available as individual packs. They are all from the original version of SoundWorks (Open School 1996). Unless otherwise stated, the contents of the packs are identical to the Collins 2000 version, although the illustrations and colours may differ.

REPLACEMENT CARDS

Lost or damaged cards from the original version of SoundWorks (Open School 1996) are replaced free of charge.A small charge is made for replacements for the Collins 2000 version of SoundWorks.

People without easy access to a photocopier may prefer to print off the copymasters on their computer. A Copymaster CD is available free of charge to anyone who has purchased the SoundWorks Pack. Please ring, quoting your SoundWorks User Number which you'll find on the inside cover of the Handbook.
